Opernglas, C. Fischer, 03.2016 - Béatrice et Bénédict, by Berlioz at the opera of Lucerne

About me

I am a franco-german director who focuses on fairy tale operas told in an abstact, ahistorical, fantastic world with a feministic and humanistic point of view.
Over the last ten years I staged 18 operas and worked in major opera houses in Europe, including the Dutch National Opera, La Monnaie and the Opera of Cologne as a regular guest.

My opera productions include L’enfant et les sortilèges, Hänsel und Gretel, Cendrillon, Jakob Lenz, Madame Butterfly, La voix humaine, Béatrice et Bénédict and Werther. Alongside reinterpreting repertoire opera I love to work on world creations as I did with composer Mathilde Wantenaar on A Song for the Moon, with Šimon Voseček’s on Biedermann und die Brandstifter and Lucas Wiegerink on the Booted Cat (libretto Ian de Toffoli).

I’m currently prepararing Don Giovanni for the Globe Theater in Coburg (Germany) and will be guest director in 2025 to stage Griselda by Vivaldi at the Danish Royal Opera house.
